Immersive Storytelling for Ocean Awareness

During Art Basel Miami 2015, MAPS Backlot hosted Cry Out: The Lonely Whale Experience, an immersive activation blending art, technology, and environmental advocacy. Created with Dell and Adrian Grenier, the experience featured a 360° virtual reality journey beneath the ocean’s surface, highlighting the impact of pollution on marine life. Transforming the space into an ocean-inspired environment, the event brought together storytelling, innovation, and purpose, marking the launch of the Lonely Whale Foundation.

FLOOD Magazine x Marshland transformed MAPS Backlot into a vibrant Art Basel activation blending music, art, and culture. Aikon #tide Product Launch

Maurice Lacroix chose MAPS Backlot to launch their Aikon #tide collection, featuring Swiss- made watches crafted from upcycled ocean-bound plastic in partnership with #tide. Planned and produced by Halo Event, the space was transformed into a gallery-style experience with vibrant branded visuals, immersive activations, live performances, and food trucks, creating a fresh and lively atmosphere for guests. For MICHELOB ULTRA Courtside x Art Basel, produced by Sparks, MAPS Backlot was transformed into a high-energy playground celebrating Michelob ULTRA’s partnership with the NBA and the launch of its new NBA team cans. The activation featured a custom LED basketball court, interactive Courtside Challenge game, music from DJ Irie and 21 Savage, and appearances from NBA and WNBA legends, blending sport, culture, and community. The Art of Training

MAPS Backlot hosted The Art of Training, produced by The Robot Co, in collaboration with LeBron, Nike, and Beats during Art Basel in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District. The immersive experience blended sport, art, music, and community, featuring a wrap-around mural by Miami artist HOXXOH and interactive training challenges inspired by LeBron’s strength, conditioning, and recovery routines. ALDI x Uber Eats Launch Activation at MAPS Backlot

MAPS Backlot hosted the Miami leg of the multi-city ALDI x Uber Eats launch, produced by Coffee ‘n Clothes. Our venue was transformed into a newsstand-inspired, immersive experience, including a giant Uber Eats bag, custom claw machine, retro-futuristic kiosks, exclusive snack bundles, and a vibrant takeover of our front wall. Guests enjoyed interactive, shareable moments in a high-energy environment — the perfect backdrop for influencer engagement, in-app integrations, and unforgettable brand storytelling.

Graffiti Meets Speed & Style

During Art Basel Miami Week 2021, MAPS Backlot transformed into an immersive art and culture destination with a live graffiti activation by celebrated street artist Alec Monopoly on a 35’ Cigarette Racing Team cafe racer, a striking fusion of high‑performance design and contemporary art. Set against our industrial Wynwood backdrop, the night featured pulsating music, dynamic lighting, VIP energy, and art in motion as the world of street art met speed and style under the Miami sky.

Riocam captured Victoria’s Secret models alongside a rare 1998 Lamborghini Diablo VS / SV at MAPS Backlot, turning the space into a cinematic editorial set. Using the iconic cement cyc wall and natural sunlight, the shoot highlighted both the car’s legendary design and the models' striking presence, blending automotive allure with high-fashion glamour.

Where Supercars and Light Become Art

CURATED regularly returns to MAPS Backlot for luxury supercar photography, often using the venue’s iconic cement cyc wall—dubbed the “Mona Lisa.” With open layouts and easy vehicle access, photographers can position cars and work with sunlight to capture editorial-quality images.
