Meet The Founder

MAPS was founded in 1993 by Paulie Lardi, a producer at heart and entrepreneur by passion. Paulie’s unconventional background sets him apart from other founders. Diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, and osteogenesis imperfecta at a young age, Paulie could have been someone who retreated into his disabilities. Instead, he turned them into his superpowers.

Early Days In South Beach

Paulie entered the production world in the early ’90s, during the post-Cocaine Cowboys era of South Beach redevelopment, when Miami was beginning to shift both architecturally and culturally. Those days, he says, were like “the wild, wild west” in South Beach: crews made magic happen daily, world-renowned supermodels were still teenagers, and the biggest names in fashion photography were just getting their start. It was during this time that Paulie saw an opportunity to start something of his own.

First Steps

Paulie entered the production world without connections or a master plan. What he brought was curiosity, a relentless work ethic, and a willingness to learn by doing. His unique perspective immediately resonated with clients. One small opportunity turned into larger projects, and layer by layer, Paulie mastered the art and craft of photo production.

Mastering Production

Early on, he realized that mastering every aspect of production was the key to delivering remarkable work. Solving complicated and sometimes daunting client requests was simply a matter of perspective, determination, and the right network. Every problem had a solution. Superpower discovered.

Building The Maps Family

With MAPS established, Paulie fine-tuned his craft and created a tight-knit team capable of moving seamlessly from office to set. He discovered he was not meant to be a boss; he was a captain. Over time, he attracted a team of passionate, unconventional talents who matched his drive and ambition. MAPS became a family-like environment where misfits, creatives, and problem-solvers thrived. Its culture is personal, generous, service-oriented, and grounded in genuine connection, a signature that remains the heartbeat of the company.

Hospitality-Driven

Paulie’s fearlessness pushed MAPS into larger projects, acquiring equipment, and eventually stepping into real estate. When offered a path to ownership by a colleague, he saw the opportunity instantly. This leap allowed him to create spaces intentionally and build his vision from the ground up.

One of MAPS’ defining trademarks is its hospitality-driven ethos. Every set is infused with a few signature Paulie-isms: good music, a signature scent, and a clean environment. Paulie believes that great energy on set produces great work, creating happy, motivated, and efficient teams. At its core, that is hospitality.

From Sets to Signature Spaces

MAPS’ evolution from production sets and studios to event spaces feels like a natural progression. That same positive energy resonates throughout the brand, and clients return to the signature MAPS experience time and again.

Vision For The Future

Today, MAPS continues to evolve with Miami, adapting to fast-moving industry shifts while staying rooted in the values that built its reputation. Paulie envisions a brand that is bold, reliable, and creatively fearless. The mission remains clear: Make it happen. Make it meaningful. Lead Miami forward with vision and heart.

And true to form, Paulie never loses his personal touch. Don’t be surprised when he signs off with a “Love you later,” a phrase that’s become his signature. It’s a small reminder that connection and authenticity are at the center of everything MAPS does, and what will continue to guide the company forward.
